My Turkish Lentil Soup

Around the end of February, I go seriously sick with a server respiratory infection and an acute sinus infection. While I was dropping off my prescription from the doctor and waiting for it to be filled at Walmart, I thought I do a little shopping.  Lately, I have been wanting some Turkish lentil soup so I went ahead and purchased the ingredients and a small crock pot. Which I did not get around to using because it is 2 quarts. So I need to find recipes for 2 quarts crock pots.

The ingredients being:
1 lb. of green lentils, pre-soak the beans or else the beans will take forever to cook

1 red onion, diced

½ lb. of minced lamb, though this can be optional to not use or you can use ground beef if you cannot find mince lamb

4 tablespoons of butter

1 tablespoon of minced garlic

1 beef bouillon cubes

Salt and pepper for taste

4 cups of water

In a 4 quarts’ pot over a medium fire, take 1 tablespoon of butter to sauté  and stir the diced red onion and garlic for a few minutes. Then add in the minced lamb until it is cooked well.

Next added the lentil beans and stir well before adding in the water.  Stir well before adding the remaining 3 tablespoons of butter and the 1 beef bouillon cubes.

Let it simmer on a low fire for about an hour.

Add salt and pepper for taste. if you want

Now after I did all this to fix this soup, as I reading online I realized that recipe that I did could have been wrong, however, since I learned how to make this soup from my ex-mother-in-law, then I made it right.

Because I dare not question her recipe!

Learning Language and Love

Okay so once again I was reading in my favorite book, The Book of Questions when I became stuck on this question: If it was the only way you could remain with the love of your life, would you be willing for both of you to wake up tomorrow as native speakers of an unfamiliar foreign language, knowing the within a week you’d permanently forget the languages you now speak and largely be cut off from your friends and culture?  If so, what new language would you want to speak, and why? The first thing that came to mind was who would not want a lover or have the thought of having that foreign lover who could either speak French and Italian.  I know I did and I think that is why I took up Spanish in high school for the last 2 years. Then when I got in college, I continue with my Spanish and I took up Russian, Greek and Italian. Crazy right? Considering the Greek and Russian alphabets are so similar and that Spanish and Italian have some similar words. It was not until 9 ye...

Is it Jealousy or What?

I so need to vent and usually when I vent I often go to one of my friends, however, what I need to vent about, I am sure that maybe one or two of you are also dealing with the same thing. I have some family members that are just simply either jealous of my accomplishments or just mad that they themselves did not also reach their own potential, goals or dreams. I am going to tell you two major things that bothers me about my family.  But first, let me give you some insight as to where this all came from. When I was young around when I was still in grade school, I told my grandmother that I was going to accomplish 3 things in my life: live in Europe (actually moved to Istanbul, Turkey), become a model which I never did and I forgot what the third thing was, however, I did accomplish it. I was also in  high school when I got pregnant with my son Nick, while I was in labor, I told my mother and my grandmother that I would never have another. So come 2006 or 2007 and my gr...

Breaking the Cycle!

As a parent we always want the best for our child(ren)., and we start with educating them on things that we think that would be best for them to know as they grow up.  I was still a teenager when I became pregnant with my only child, Nicolas.  Did I wanted a child at that time?  No I didn't and it was my mother who said to keep him and that she would help me raise him.  My mother was also a teenage parent starting with me and a year later came my one of two brothers.  Now you are probably thinking that my mother why didn't she teach me not to become a teenage parent?   I am assuming that and I was right, that she did not know how.  She wanted to do my best with my life but she did not know to explain to me how to go about living life.  Growing up with 3 younger siblings I saw the struggles that my mother went through, and in my head I knew that I was not willing to do some of things that she.  I knew in my head that if I was ...
